Please download and complete this LOR Request Form and email it back to me (timothy.williamson@lmu.edu) with at least 4 weeks notice.

LMU Grants, Fellowships, Awards, and Opportunities for Student Research
Summer Internship Funding Program
The Summer Internship Funding Program provides LMU students who are pursuing unpaid or underpaid internships with up to $2,500 in funding. To be considered eligible, you must be enrolled the fall after the summer for which you apply and your internship must be outside of LMU.
Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS)
The URS is an opportunity for students to present their research to a wider audience at LMU. This symposium includes poster and presentation sessions and allows students to practice their presentation skills.
Independent Undergraduate Research Program (IURP)
IURP is a program designed to give students experience with independent research. Students who wish to complete student-led research with their faculty mentor can apply to this program. Compensation through IURP is either through work-study or course credit.
RAINS Research Assistant Program
The RAINS Research Assistant Program was designed to allow faculty mentors to provide compensation for their student Research Assistants. If you are interested in RAINS, contact your faculty mentor for more guidance.
Research Learning Community (RLC)
The RLC is a paid 8-week learning community that introduces students to search strategies and research writing techniques. For RLC, students meet once a week for two hours.
Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)
SURP is a 6-week paid research opportunity for students who wish to complete summer research with their faculty mentor. Succesful applicants will receive up to an $1800 stipend.

External Grants, Fellowships, and Awards for Student Research
(outside LMU)
The APA Summer Undergraduate Psychology Experience in Research (SUPER) Fellowship is awarded to students from underrepresented groups who plan to conduct a student-driven summer research project. Successful applicants receive a $4,000 stipend to conduct summer research for 9 weeks at 20 hrs/week.
Grants for Students who are Members of Psi Chi:
The Undergraduate Research Grant provides up to $3,500 in funds to students who serve as first author and project director. These funds are meant to cover or partially cover costs for the student’s research project.
The Regional Travel Grant provides up to $400 in funding for active Psi Chi members with limited funding to attend a regional conference (e.g., Western Psychological Association [WPA]).
The Unrestricted Travel Grant provides up to $1,500 to Psi Chi students, recent graduates, and doctorate-holding members with limited available funding so they may present a paper or poster at a psychology-related convention (excluding regional conferences such as WPA).

USC Graduate School JumpStart Program
The USC Graduate School JumpStart Program is a 10-week summer research program designed to increase the pool of diverse Ph.D. applicants. The program provides opportunities to participate in lab-based research and/or mentored participation in faculty projects.
McLean Mental Health Research Summer Program
The McLean Mental Health Research Summer Program is a 10-week (June-August) paid summer research program that provides research experience to undergraduate BIPOC students currently in a two- or four-year college/university. The program allows students to work in a laboratory, attend workshops, and participate in outreach with McLean’s Brains Matter program.
McLean Post-Baccalaureate Child and Adolescent Clinical Fellowship Program
The McLean Post-Baccalaureate Child and Adolescent Clinical Fellowship Program is a two-year post-baccalaureate program designed for college graduates interested in pursuing a career in mental health.
NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program provides up to three years of graduate school support for students pursuing STEM research. Applicants should be in the process of applying to graduate programs. The GRFP encourages applications from underrepresented groups, including women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and veterans.
